GENERAL WRITING TASK 1

You received a letter from a friend who asked for a recommendation letter from you for the job that he/she is applying for. Write a letter to the manager:

– Explain how well you know this person.
– Describe how this person works.
– Why you think this person is suitable for the job.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter with regard to the proposal to a job opening at our company for Senior Accountant designation. I have a friend John Mathews who is well versed in accounting industry.

Mr. John has a Master’s degree in Accounting and Business from USS, in Kolkata. We have worked together in the same accounting firm for almost a decade. He is holding nearly 20 years of experience in this field; moreover, worked for 3 major Member firms around the world. His experience itself speaks that he has sound knowledge and professionalism; besides, he is dedicated and adheres to organizational policies. He profoundly impressed clients which made them to report his competency.

I feel John is apt for our company to this position because, after our discussion last week regarding some helps to find a right person for this vacancy. As, our organization is launching a new branch in next month. I immediately thought of him and believe that he best fits in this role.

Undoubtedly, I insist him for this position; moreover, his intelligence and logical methods of accounting helps our company the best.
