DO’S FOR IELTS SPEAKING PART 3
1. Give Detailed Responses
One of the most important aspects of IELTS Speaking Part 3 is the requirement to provide extended answers. Avoid short, one-sentence replies. To score well, you should elaborate on your opinions and ideas. For example, if asked about environmental issues, don’t simply say, “It’s important to protect the environment.” Instead, explain why it’s important, give specific examples, and discuss possible solutions.
Example Response:
“Protecting the environment is essential because the planet’s resources are finite. If we don’t act now, future generations will face severe consequences such as rising sea levels, more frequent natural disasters, and a loss of biodiversity. Governments, businesses, and individuals all need to take responsibility, whether through stricter environmental regulations, reducing carbon emissions, or adopting sustainable lifestyles.”

Conclusion: Summarize or restate your point.

3. Use Complex Vocabulary and Sentence Structures
To show your language proficiency, try to use a variety of vocabulary and complex sentence structures. This doesn’t mean you need to use overly complicated words, but demonstrating a range of expressions will help you stand out. Use connecting words such as “on the other hand,” “in addition,” and “however,” to give your answers more depth.
Example:
“In addition to the environmental impact, there’s also a significant economic factor. For example, transitioning to renewable energy sources could create new industries and jobs. However, this requires substantial investment in infrastructure and technology, which many countries struggle to afford.”
