Foreign language instruction should begin in kindergarten. Discuss.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
SAMPLE ANSWER:-
In long-gone days schools taught mother tongue to their students. However, as we are progressing ahead, so several changes are taking place. These days globalization is in trend so, schools have started teaching foreign language from kindergarten. Some people think it is justifiable while others oppose. I agree with the second view and this essay would discuss both the sides and give my view.
There are certain reasons to justify my notion. Firstly, childhood is a golden phase of life. It is important for the young ones to enjoy their life as much as they can Kindergarten is meant for enjoyment and undertaking playful activities. And if in this class, children would have to learn another subject then of course it would put a pressure on them. Learning a new language is not easy, rather than enjoying children would start working hard for it and go away from fun-loving activities.
Secondly, when someone learns a foreign language, he/she adopts the culture and lifestyle of that country unintentionally. So, if a child learns a foreign language then he would get confused with his own culture and foreign culture. Therefore, rather than respecting and following his own lifestyle, there are more chances that he would get inclined towards the foreign culture.
On the other hand, some people prefer the inclusion of foreign language in pre- primary school. According to them, it is important to learn more than one language as it is in trend. If children learn it from childhood, then they would become skilled in it because to learn a language, it is important to speak more of it. Hence if children learn it from childhood, their basics would be clear and even improve their verbal and non-verbal skills in that language.
To conclude, I would like to state that the given question has both the sides. However, if I analyse both of them with sound reasoning, then I think that the first view is more effective and powerful. So, schools should not introduce foreign language in kindergarten level.
