Tips for IELTS Speaking 2022

Speaking is most easy module in IELTS. It is the face to face conversation with examiner. In this test you and the examiner will be in a room and examiner will put questions to you. The test is divided in three parts and it lasts for 14-15 minutes. It is same for academic and general training students. In spite, this is the easiest test still some students find it difficult because of various reasons and lose their score in this test. If you also have some problems in speaking here are some IELTS Speaking Tips by following them you can get your desire band scores.

1. You should take it as the simple conversation not like a test. You can imagine that, you just do the conversation in English like as your own language. For this, your confidence is necessary so be confident before entering the room. If you feel hesitation the examiner will not able to judge you and he or she will think that you don’t have the ability to speak in another language.

2. If you don’t listen or don’t get the words of the question asked by the examiner properly you can ask to repeat it. However, if you heard the question properly but don’t understand what they want to say in the question you can say to rephrase it. Keep in mind that you can’t put any questions in part 2. If you don’t understand the topic of cue card the examiners never explain you anything. You can ask the question like this for other two parts:-

Could you repeat the question please?

Could you explain the questions please?

Could you explain what the ……. means of this. (By using specific word).

3. Try to use some linking words in your speaking test these linking words and phrases not only help the examiner to understand your idea and view point easily but also add the complexity in your sentences. If you don’t have enough linking words you can repeat them again but no more than twice. The most usable linking words are: and, because, also, like and so on.

4. In the speaking test, try to give your own idea. Don’t repeat the memorize answers because examiner goes through from the all kind of answers and they will not give you good band scores. So always explain your own idea in your own language. Moreover, don’t give too short answers. In the first part of speaking your answers must be in 2 to 3 lines, in the cue card always try to speak for minimum 1mintue and 50 seconds if you are able to speak more than you can. However in the 3 part, try to give reasonable answer with good elaboration. If you don’t able to elaborate it more you can include the example in it.

5. Don’t think about the accents because with a face-to-face Speaking test, the IELTS examiner understands a wide range of accents so they will be able to understand what you want to say. But try to use good pronunciation which will help to understand easily and make sure that you use stress and intonation as English is a stress-timed language. To maintain it, start Practice with friends and they will tell you about your accents, pronunciation, and intonation.

Hope these 5 tips will help you to be more confident and you will be able to deliver the answers fluently and accurately.

Thank you 🙂
