Sample Answer-
The bar graph is an interesting study of the living arrangements of the youth, aged 20-24, in the U.K. for two specific years, 1998 and 2008. An outstanding feature that is apparent in the graph is that rate of those who were married and lived together was only a marginal 9% in 1998, while it was still less in 2008.
The percentage of those in the specified age group, who lived with their parents, was the same for both the years, 44%. Similarly, the ratios of those who lived alone also were the same, at 26%, for these years. A substantial 15% of the youth were found cohabiting in the U.K. in the year 1998, but this rate went up to around 20% in 2008, indicating that more young people were getting inclined to cohabit. The ratio of those who were living with lone parents, too, shared most the same ratio of about 5%.
In concluding, while there was hike in cohabitation, there was decline in the number of married couple living together. All the other ratios remained about the same.

Sample Answer-
Dear Sir,
I, Sahil Dhawan, am lettering this missive to bring your attention to an awful situation that has occurred because of last night’s storm.
I live in Golden Petal society, sector 47, Chandigarh. Last night, weather was not good and there was storm in this area. Winds were blowing at a very high speed along with a lot of lighting which has created a mess in my area. Also, there was a tree near to my house which has gone down due to that storm.
The flattened tree has created a lot of problems for me as it has plunged just in front of my house due to which my family and I are facing issues while going out from our house. Apart from this, it has blocked full road traffic and nobody from our society is able to travel via their cars. I want you to send the concerned persons who can clear the road by lifting the tree from the road.
I hope that you will understand my problem and will take measurements at the earliest.
Thanking you
Yours sincerely
Sahil
Writing Task 2 (AC+GT)
Should wealthy nations be required to share their wealth and resources among poorer nations by providing such things as food and education? Or is it the responsibility of the governments of poorer nations to look after their citizen themselves? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Sample Answer –
In bygone days countries were concerned about themselves as there was less exposure to the neighboring nations. However, now we are progressing towards modern era where many changes are emerging. These days’ countries help each other during the times of exigency. Some people think that affluent countries should help third world countries, while others believe that the under privileged nations should receive help from their government only.
There are certain reasons to support the first view. Firstly, poor nations need a start with which they can progress further. If wealthy countries would offer resources to them like eatables and education, then poverty stricken countries can improve their living conditions. Many countries like of Africa are suffering from malnutrition, chronic disease etcetera. People are dying because of it and they do not even have pure water to drink. So, as an act of kindness, wealthy nations should give a helping hand.
Secondly, there is a great economic inequality among countries worldwide. Developed countries are extremely rich and their citizens are blessed with all the basic and luxurious commodities. However, at the same time there are countries which are suffering from acute shortage of resources cannot even improve because government itself does not have any resources. So, the first world countries can donate the basic necessities out of their funding, and also provide education, so that literacy rate could be improved with education, youngsters of these countries could become optimistic and innovative.
On the other hand, some people are extremely against the notion. They think that poor countries would become dependent on these rich countries would not do anything on their own. In addition to this, developed countries would never give funding for free and would charges some interest from them. This would increase the economic pressure on the poor countries and as in past; there are chances that they would be ruled by them. So, governments should take some measures to improve the conditions of its citizens as many countries have shifted from the category of underdeveloped to developing ones.
To conclude, I would state that both the above said ideas are relevant. Nonetheless, as per my verdict, the first view is better and more effective than the second one. So, rich countries should provide aid to poor countries and improve their condition.
IELTS Speaking full Interview
PART 1 – Intro Part
What is your full name?
My name is Gurleen Kaur.
Can I see your ID?
Sure! Here it is.
Where are you from?
I am from New Delhi.
What is your hometown famous for?
New Delhi does not need any introduction. It’s a city on steroids, I would say. It’s known for several things. It’s the capital of India and known for its vibrancy, rich history and culture. I guess New Delhi never sleeps because you feel the vibe of a lot many things that are happening around you. It is an architectural marvel with plenty of historic monuments, magnificent buildings and skyscrapers. Delights are the people who provide the pulsing soul and energy of wondrous city, blessing it with cuisines and foreign languages, snappy fashion and stunning literature and many more. I’ve named Delhi as an ‘urban jungle’
Do you still live in your hometown?
Yes, I do, I still live with my family there.
What do you like about living there?
It is a big city and well connected by public transportation. We’ve got buses and metro trains for efficient commuting. You get everything in you vicinity. It’s purely a multicultural city that has everything to offer visitors. There are plenty of interesting places which make the city lovely and engaging than the other cities in India. But the land of opportunity comes with a few caveats. The traffic is horrible and if you are not the local inhabitant, you may get stuck in the traffic for hours.
Are you working or studying at the moment?
I am studying and working both. I am studying journalism and working as an assistant editor with the renewed newspaper, ‘the Hindu’.
Do you enjoy your job?
Yes, very much. It is intriguing (fascinating) and a fast-paced job. You’ve got to work round the clock and try to break the news as it happens. That’s our first priority and that’s why we are always on edge (tense, nervous or irritable). We get to meet several people and sometimes need to go to different places. Beyond doubt, I love this job and I feel that I do justice to my aspiration.
It is difficult to get such job in your country?
I don’t think so as long as one wants to work for any press. However, it is hard if you aim at working with the renowned press. They have limited openings, especially in the editorial section. People generally don’t leave such prestigious jobs because there are only a few newspapers which are the national level.

Describe a person who does well at work.
You should say
- Who this person is
- How you know this person
- What kinds of roles this person handles
Why do you think this person works well?
I happen to have an employee who has been working with me for over ten years. He came to me when I was first hiring people for my business, and appeared to have a lot of potential to grow, learn, and help my business in the coming years. He is highly skilled man with a very strong educational background. Not only is he well versed with communicating English, Hindi, and Guajarati, he also knows a little bit of French, and has the most refined convincing skills I have ever seen. Having studied abroad himself, he knows what it takes to apply to foreign universities, crack entrance test, secure admissions, acquire a visa, and to adjust to a new country. He is very skilled at handling queries of foreign education aspirants, and guiding them. This employee is well versed with the different procedures one needs to follow in order to get admissions and visas of different countries. When prospective students are unsure of which country they want to study in, he shows them the pros and cons of studying in various different places. He counsels them in a friendly manner, and understands what each student expects from his foreign education experience. In keeping with students’ expectations, he suggests the right kinds of universities and informs them about the various entrance tests, language tests, and interviews they would need to appear for, in order to secure admissions. Further, he communicates well with universities and their admissions departments, in order to manage our business relationships, and to stay abreast with the latest eligibility requirements and fee structures of institutes and courses. When it comes to preparing visa files for students, I can count on him to never miss out on a single document. Everything he does is absolutely up to date with the industry requirements, and thanks to him, we have managed to build a very strong track record in helping people with foreign education and immigration. In fact, because on his own skills and amazing training he has given to my newer employees, we were also able to handle cases where students visa applications and university applications have been rejected previously.
