1. Choose the option of English

There are different types of English like American, Australian and British and they all have different styles of pronouncing the same words. For example, the British do not pronounce the letter ‘r’ in many words while Americans do. Australian English uses totally different vowels than British English, so due to this variation the same word is pronounced in different ways. So don’t get confused and choose the accent you want to teach yourself and to know better watch movies or series from the corresponding country so that you can get the depth knowledge about the pronunciation of each word.

2. Go with the sound

Practice basic sounds from the English language every day. In initial stage pick one or two sounds like letters or syllables. When you get familiar start breaking the word into syllables as this will make easier for you to pronounce. Then the next step is to switch to the pronunciation of the whole word, and then use the words in a sentence. This is the best way to improve your English pronunciation without any struggle.

3. Talk slower

Talking slow is another thing that helps you to pronounce words properly. There is a normal thinking among IELTS aspirants that if they will speak fast they will get extra score for fluency and some minor mistakes will go unidentified. This perception is totally wrong as when you speak fast you don’t get time to pronounce the word properly. So it’s better to give yourself time to pay attention to the pronunciation of the words you are using while IELTS speaking

4. Try to imitate a native speaker

There is no better teacher than the native speaker himself. There is TV, radio, internet and other modes by where you can easily find the English speakers listen to them and see how they say a word and try to imitate them. This will definitely make your pronunciation better.

5. Practice on your own

Practice will make you perfect so it is very necessary to practice a lot. When you are alone repeat the words again and again which you find difficult to say. Don’t hesitate or feel shy for this process instead, speak out loud as much as you can. Don’t think you are pronouncing a wrong word and keep on practicing until you can get the right pronunciation.

6. Listen to yourself

You yourself are the best judge so while practicing record your voice on mobile phone, iPad, voice recorder, etc. Then listen to it carefully to know where your pronunciation problem is and this can be identified by comparing your clip with the native speaker and you need to improve it. This exercise is important to start improving, as until you will not know your errors you will not be able to improve them.

7. Watch yourself

Watch yourself while speaking because the different sounds and movements of the speech organs are used in this language. For this stand in front of the mirror and see the movements of your face, mouth, lips, and tongue. Recognize whether they are moving in the same way as of the native English speaker? If not, try to move like them. This will improve your pronunciation.

Practice a lot for IELTS speaking test either with your friend or teacher who have the good knowledge of the language and tell him to rectify your errors. Besides, there are other tips which can help you to get good scores.
