 1) Read the questions carefully.

2) Read two questions at once.

3) Write your answers directly to your test booklet, then copy them to your answers sheet at the end. As you are listening, write down your answers in your test booklet. You will then be given 10 minutes to transfer these answers to your answer sheet. This is the time when you should verify your spelling and grammar. 4) Don’t leave any Blank Answers

There is no negative marking if you write wrong answer. Therefore, it is better to write an answer than leaving the blank space. If you miss any answer just go with an educated and logical guess.

5) Don’t panic if you don’t catch everything you hear. Remember, you’ve read the question fully beforehand, so you know in advance what keywords and information you need to focus on.

6) Don’t worry if you miss one

The whole listening section is timed, so don’t worry too much if you miss one question for the next question. Remember to stay calm and continue focusing.

7) Pay Attention to the word count in the instructions.

If the question states that you require to provide exactly no more than one word, and you write “the school” instead of “school”, your answer will be marked wrong. In this case, remember that counting counts in the test score.

8) Don’t underestimate the importance of synonyms

As with many languages tests, the IELTS needs you to indicate that you understand and you can use synonyms. Questions are often paraphrased or use synonyms to the keywords spoken in the recording, so be confident you have full mastery of vocabulary useful for the IELTS.

9) Always double check your answers to questions

Verify, re_verify and re_re_ verify that the answers you transfer to your answer sheet match those in your test booklet. As many of the students transfer the answers without checking anything and in this case they shuffle the answers. For example one can write the answer of 3rd question in the 4th box of the answer sheet and can lose the score. So be alert while copying the answers.
