IELTS Speaking Test
Do you like writing by hand?
As far as I am concerned, writing is just a tool. Albeit whether it’s handwriting, or using typing my handwriting is not that good, and sometimes I even find it hard to read what I have written. I guess what I am trying to say is that I do not have strong feelings either way.
How often do you write with a pen?
I hardly ever use a pen and if I do, it’s normally to make a short note to remind me to do something. Just about everything I write nowadays is done using a computer. In fact, I used to be able to handwrite for hours on end, but currently, if I write for longer than five minutes my hand really starts to hurt.

Do you prefer to handwrite or type?
To be perfectly frank, I am sitting on the fence with this question. Handwriting can be done anywhere and at any time as long as you have a pen and paper and enough light. Using a computer on the other hand is limited by the availability of electricity. Even if you are using a laptop there will come a time when the device needs charging. Therefore, as far as I’m concerned. Both have a place in my life.
Is your handwriting easy to read?
Sadly, no, it is often hard for people to decipher. My handwriting has never been legible and in fact, it has got worse because I seldom need to write nowadays. However, I have found that if I use a really good quality pen, the quality of my writing gets to be a lot easier to read.

What is your favourite wild animal?
I am a big fan of tigers. I think tigers are very majestic and powerful. I like their beautiful stripes and their fierce eyes. I also admire their hunting skills and their agility.
When did you last see a wild animal?
If memory serves me correctly, I last saw a wild animal when I went on a safari trip in Africa last year. I saw many different kinds of animals, such as lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and rhinos. It was an amazing experience to see them in their natural habitat.

Do you like visiting zoos?
Yes, I’m really keen on visiting zoos. I think zoos are a great way to learn about different animals and their characteristics. I also think zoos can help raise awareness and protect endangered species. I enjoy seeing the animals up close and feeding them sometimes.
Does your country have a lot of wild animals?
No, my country doesn’t have a lot of wild animals. We have a small land area and a high population density. We have lost many of our native animals due to habitat loss, poaching, and pollution. We can only see a wild animal once in a blue moon.

IELTS Speaking Test
One event I felt particularly unhappy about was last year during my summer vacation. I had been looking forward to a weekend trip to the mountains with some friends. We had been planning it for weeks, and I was really excited about the idea of spending time in nature, hiking, and just relaxing away from the busy city life.
The event took place on a Saturday morning. I had packed everything the night before and was eagerly waiting for the day to begin. However, just as we were about to leave, one of my friends called and said that he couldn’t make it due to a family emergency. At first, I thought it was just a minor delay, but then one by one, others started canceling too. Eventually, the entire trip was called off, and I was left at home, feeling disappointed.

I was in my apartment at the time, and I felt really down because it had been something I had been looking forward to for so long. The worst part was that I had already mentally prepared myself for the getaway, and suddenly, everything was canceled.
I felt unhappy because not only did I miss out on the trip I had been excited about, but I also realized that I had already made time for it, and now I was left with a free weekend that felt like a waste. It also made me feel a bit disconnected from my friends, as their reasons for canceling weren’t fully explained, which left me feeling a little confused and frustrated.
In the end, though, I tried to make the best of the situation by going for a long walk alone and reading a book, but I still felt that initial disappointment.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS
What do you usually do when you feel unhappy?
When I feel unhappy, I usually take some time to reflect on why I feel that way. Sometimes, I go for a walk to clear my mind, or I listen to music that helps me relax. Talking to a close friend or family member also helps me feel better, as I can express my feelings and get their perspective.
How do you think you would feel if something similar happened again?
If something similar happened again, I think I would be disappointed at first, but I would try to stay more positive. I’ve learned that plans sometimes fall through, and while it’s disappointing, it’s not the end of the world. I’d probably try to make the best of the situation by finding something else enjoyable to do instead.

Do you think it’s important to make plans with others? Why or why not?
Yes, I think it’s important to make plans with others because it helps strengthen relationships and creates opportunities for shared experiences. However, I also believe that being flexible and understanding when plans change is crucial for maintaining positive relationships, as sometimes unexpected things can come up.
What is your advice for someone who feels unhappy about something?
My advice would be to acknowledge your feelings and allow yourself to be upset for a bit, but don’t let it control you. Talk to someone you trust about it, and try to find a way to distract yourself, whether it’s through hobbies, exercise, or just spending time outdoors. Sometimes, it’s also helpful to focus on the positive aspects of life and practice gratitude.
