Do you like to watch the sky?
Yes, I do! Actually, my region in Spain, Andalusia, is known for having over 300 days of sun a year! With this said, there are few things more relaxing than lying out on the beach on summer afternoons, staring up at the cloudless sky. Furthermore, the sunsets here are just magnificent, often displaying colors like cotton candy. Since I live on the tenth floor of my building, I almost always watch the sunset.
Do you like to watch stars?
Absolutely! For one, it’s a very romantic activity, so I like to do it with my boyfriend. Moreover, I like to go out to star-gaze with my friends. We have a fun activity where we try to find different shapes in the stars then call them out to each other.

What is the sky like at night in your hometown?
Marvelous! Since there isn’t much light pollution here, you can see the stars very clearly at night. I sometimes like to go out on the beach at night with a blanket and gaze (watch) at the brilliance of the shining stars. It makes me feel in awe of just how amazing the universe is. There are few things more romantic than that!
Have you ever taken a course about stars?
No, I have never formally studied Astronomy since it wasn’t available at my school. However, I think it would be interesting. Fortunately, my grandfather was really into astronomy so he shared his knowledge with me, as well as gifted me an encyclopedia loaded with useful information.
What’s your favorite star?
I’d have to say the star constellation Orion, which is easily spotted on winter nights. I find this constellation interesting because it has everything, including a giant red star which could explode at any moment, a young blue star, and even a nebula where new stars are being born. It’s complex and magnificent!

– why you talked to this tourist
– what you talked about
– and explain how interesting this conversation was.
SAMPLE ANSWER
It was during the summer of 2019 in my hometown of New York City, specifically in Central Park. I noticed a couple who seemed a bit lost and were looking at a map near Bethesda Terrace, so I approached them to offer help.
I initiated the conversation because I noticed they were struggling with directions and thought I could assist them in finding their way. They were a couple from Japan, visiting the United States for the first time. Initially, we talked about their impressions of New York City and how overwhelming yet exciting it was for them. They were particularly fascinated by the diversity of people and the fast pace of life in the city compared to Tokyo.

As our conversation progressed, they asked for recommendations on places to eat that served authentic American food, and I happily suggested some local diners and eateries nearby. They were also curious about the history of Central Park and its significance to New Yorkers, so I shared some interesting facts about its design and its role as a green oasis in the midst of a bustling metropolis.
What made this conversation particularly interesting was the cultural exchange that took place. I learned about their customs and traditions in Japan, and they were genuinely interested in understanding American culture from a local’s perspective. It was rewarding to see their excitement and curiosity about exploring a new place, and I felt a sense of pride in showcasing the best of what my city had to offer to visitors from abroad.
Overall, talking to this tourist was a delightful experience that reminded me of the joy of connecting with people from different backgrounds and sharing mutual interests in travel and exploration.
