Weather Vocabulary

To be below freezing: below zero degrees Celsius.

Sentence- Temperature in Kashmir goes below freezing in winters.

Bitterly cold: very cold and unpleasant

Sentence- The northern plains of India are bitterly cold in January.

A blanket of snow: a complete covering of snow.

Sentence- Himalayas are always covered with a blanket of snow.

Boiling hot: very hot (informal)

Sentence- I had to cancel some my trip as it was boiling hot  in summers.

Changeable: weather that often changes

Sentence-  In the coastal regions its changeable so it is advised to always carry an umbrella.

Sentence- In summer we get breath of relieves when there is a change in the weather.

Clear blue skies: a sky without clouds.

Sentence- Nowadays the clear blue skies cannot be seen because of pollution.

To clear up: when clouds or rain disappear

Sentence-I waited to clear up than started for my work place

To come out (the sun): when the sun appears out of a cloudy sky

Sentence- When the sun come out the kids started playing in the ground
