IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1

You recently bought a new piece of technology for your home. Your friend is interested in buying the same item. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:

– Explain what the technology is

– Describe how it is useful to you

– Give your advice on whether your friend should buy it or not.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Mark,

I hope you’re doing well! I wanted to tell you about the new smart air purifier I recently purchased for my home, especially since you mentioned you were thinking of getting one too.

The model I bought is the Dyson Pure Cool, which not only purifies the air but also functions as a fan. It’s equipped with a HEPA filter that removes allergens, dust, and even odors. What I love most is that I can control it remotely through an app, and it even monitors air quality in real time.

Since I started using it, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my allergy symptoms, and the air feels much fresher. It’s been especially helpful during spring when pollen levels are high.

If you’re still considering it, I’d definitely recommend it. It’s a bit of an investment, but totally worth it if clean air is a priority for you.
