Vague: not clearly expressed, known, described, or decided:

I do have a vague memory of meeting her many years ago.

Highbrow: a person who is only interested in serious art or complicated subjects:

She is a scholar and a bit of a highbrow.

Misconceive: to understand something incorrectly, or to think that something is different to the way it really is:

But the film’s creators misconceive the true nature of corruption.

Vicious: actions show an intention or wish to hurt someone or something very badly:

The police said that this was one of the most vicious attacks they’d ever seen.

Dormant: Something that is not active or growing but has the ability to be active at a later time:

The long-dormant volcano has recently shown signs of erupting.

Hearsay: information that you have heard but do not know to be true:

The evidence against them is all hearsay

Commute: To make the same journey regularly between work and home

It is taking longer for people to commute to work because of traffic problems.

Mendacity: the act of not telling the truth:

Politicians are often accused of mendacity.
