IELTS SPEAKING FULL INTERVIEW

PART – 1 INTRO PART

What is your full name?

My name is Gurman Garg.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Gurman.

May I see your ID?

Sure, here it is.

Where do you come from?

I am from Delhi.

In your country do people wear hats and caps?

Yes, I’ve seen many people wearing hats or caps, especially in my community when I go to church on Sunday morning and I see elderly people wearing hats and the youth wearing stylish caps.

Do you wear hats and caps?

Sometimes I wear the cap for two reasons. One is when I see the temperature outside is very heated so I try to beat the heat by wearing a cap. Second is sometimes I love wearing different kinds of caps just to look stylish.

Did you wear hats as a child?

Yes, I did. My grandfather was very much fond of wearing stylish and traditional hats. He would take me to church every Sunday morning, and I started following the same culture. He bought me a few hats when I was in school. I’ve treasured them yet and oftentimes I try them as per occasion.

Why do people wear hats and caps?

It’s a personal preference, and a lot depends, upon the family culture. For instance, my family has traditionally been using hats and caps so we follow suit. Others might be doing it for beating the heat during the summer time. There is another group of people who wear to look stylish and trendy and they might be thinking that wearing hats and caps fulfil their needs.

Do you think it’s mostly for practical reasons or because of fashion?

I guess it has both purposes in some cases. But for me it’s more of a fashion than a practical reason.

PART – 2 CUE CARD

– What it is like

– What you can do in this country

Why do you want to visit this country?

SAMPLE ANSWER

While I have been too many foreign countries, there are still many that I have yet to visit. Each continent and each country has something different, something unique to offer to a hungry traveler like myself. Some have pristine lakes, some have lush green meadows and then there are some places that have magnificent mountain ranges. However, there is one places that has all three Today, I’ m going to speak about Switzerland.

This is one country I have yet to visit, but it is on top of my list. Being from a very warm place with a 6 month long summer, I constantly crave for cooler climes. We never get any snow where I live, so a place like Switzerland, where snow is a given, feels like a piece of haven. Nestled in northern Europe, Switzerland is rated one of the happiest places in the world on many indices. Thanks to the snow and its altitude, cold winds blow through its hamlets day and night, keeping the weather quite chilly. Once the body is acclimatized, such weather is ideal for going on long walks, treks, and on picnics when the sun comes out.

Being the birthplace of skiing and other similar snow sports, Switzerland is very conducive to such activities. Hotels provide basic skiing workshops to tourists, so as to give them a true blue Swiss experience. I look forward to trying out this amazing sport, followed by a mug full of hot chocolate at one of the classic Swiss ski inns in Zurich, one can hire a pedalo, row boat, or speed boat and spend an enchanting afternoon in the still lake Or, one can hire a bicycle and ride up the Alpine pass to enjoy the view of Zurich from an altitude. In Zermatt, tourists can enjoy never- wrecking cable car rides, and breath-taking views of the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise.

In Geneva and Lausanne, travelers can explore the history of Switzerland by visiting its various museums, galleries, music festivals, and old buildings. There are numerous things to do in this Alpine paradise, but the , main reason I want to visit this country is, that it is a melting pot of  French, German, Italian, and Austrian Cultures, because it shares its border with these glorious nations. For travelers this means that they can experience Switzerland’s scenic beauty with a sublime blend of the art, culture, language, and cuisines of surrounding nations.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

Why do Indian people like to travel abroad?

Indians like to travel abroad for many reasons. The first is to expand their horizons and see and learn about other cultures. The second is to enjoy scenic places with natural beauty that is different from what Indian tourist destinations can offer. Another reason why Indian like to travel aboard is that most foreign countries are more developed than India, thus offering a more luxurious experience to tourists. Finally, Indians often have a tendency to show off their socio-economic status among friends and relatives. What better way to prove that one has arrived in life, than to travel to expensive destinations abroad?

How can people benefit from international travel?

International travel acquaints us with newer, more different cultures. This teaches us to accept diversity in terms of thoughts, languages, dialects, food habits, cultures, and also expands our world view. In this way, travelling can prove to be very educative. Having travelled abroad and learned such things, when we return to our own country, we can imbibe the good things we have learnt from other cultures, appreciate the plus points of our own culture and behavior patterns, and also be more tolerant towards others. In long run this makes a nation more peaceful, and hence more progressive.

What effects will tourism have on our environment?

Tourism can affect our environment both, positively and negatively. People from some cultures may resort to hunting and poaching, while some other cultures may not have as much respect for our natural heritage and may intentionally or unintentionally damage it. However, on a more optimistic note, when people from more developed countries come in as tourists, they may spread awareness about cleanliness and close of conduct through example, by respecting our system and laws more than our own citizens do. They may go back to their own countries and gather funds to help preserve our natural wonders, too, at times. Future, revenue from tourism can be used for the maintenance, preservation, and beautification of tourist areas, thereby improving the environment.
