Yes, my name ‘Sargi’ means “early morning meal” in Punjabi culture. It’s related to a festival tradition.

My parents chose it after my grandmother suggested it.

Do you like your name? Why or why not?
Yes, I do. It’s unique and reflects my cultural background, which makes me proud.

Yes, I really enjoy eating out because it gives me a break from cooking and I can try different cuisines that I can’t easily prepare at home.

IELTS SPEAKING TEST

How often do you eat at restaurants?
I usually go once or twice a month, mainly on weekends or for special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries.

What kinds of restaurants do you like?
I prefer restaurants that serve Indian and Italian food, especially those with a cosy atmosphere and good service.

Do you prefer eating at home or at restaurants? Why?
I like eating at home on regular days because it’s healthier and more affordable, but I enjoy restaurants for variety and socialising.

Have you ever tried a restaurant that you didn’t like?
Yes, once I went to a seafood restaurant where the food wasn’t fresh. It was quite disappointing, and I never went back.

What’s your favourite restaurant? Why do you like it?
My favourite is a small family-run restaurant near my home. The food tastes homemade, and the staff are very friendly.

I’d like to talk about my friend Arjun, who is exceptionally talented at singing. We’ve been friends since college, and I first discovered his talent during a cultural event where he performed a popular Bollywood song.

I often listen to him when he sings at our college functions or at small gigs in local cafés on weekends. He also uploads short videos on Instagram, so even when I can’t attend in person, I can still enjoy his music online.

He is especially good at Bollywood melodies and soft acoustic covers, but he also experiments with his own compositions. His voice is very soothing and expressive, and he has great control over his notes.

Whenever I listen to his singing, I feel relaxed and inspired. It’s amazing to see someone my age follow their passion so seriously. I’m genuinely proud to be his friend and I always encourage him to continue his journey in music.

Do you think music education is important for children?
Yes, definitely. Learning music at a young age helps children develop creativity, patience, and discipline. It also improves their listening skills and emotional expression, which can benefit them in other areas of life.

IELTS SPEAKING TEST

Why do you think some people become very good at music while others don’t?
I think it’s a mix of natural talent and consistent practice. Some people may have a good ear for music or a naturally pleasant voice, but without regular training and dedication they can’t reach a high level. Passion and hard work are equally important.

How has social media changed the way people share their music?
Social media has made it much easier for singers to reach a large audience. They can upload short videos, collaborate with other artists, and even get noticed by music producers without needing a big label. It’s a great platform for new talent.

Do you think singing is a good career option in your country?
Yes, but it’s also very competitive. In India, for example, there’s a huge demand for playback singers, live performers, and content creators. However, success depends on both skill and the ability to market oneself effectively.

What kinds of music are popular among young people in your country?
Bollywood songs are still very popular, especially romantic and upbeat tracks. But many young people also enjoy independent music, Western pop, and fusion genres. Streaming platforms have widened their choices a lot.

IELTS SPEAKING TEST

Do you think listening to music can help people relax or focus?
Yes, definitely. Soft or instrumental music can calm the mind, reduce stress, and even improve concentration. For many students, background music helps them study more effectively.
