IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1

You are a parent who feels that your child’s school does not provide enough sports activities.

Write a letter to the school principal. In your letter:

– Explain why you think sports are important

– Describe what sports facilities are currently lacking

– Suggest how more sports sessions could be added

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Principal,

I am writing to express my concern regarding the limited sports activities available at your school. As a parent, I believe that sports play a vital role in a child’s overall development, promoting physical health, teamwork, and stress relief.

Currently, the school offers only basic physical education classes twice a week, and there are no dedicated facilities for popular sports such as football, basketball, or swimming. The playground is small and lacks proper equipment, which restricts students from engaging in a variety of physical activities.

I would like to suggest introducing additional sports sessions during after-school hours and weekends. Collaborating with local sports clubs or hiring specialized coaches could also help broaden the options available to students. These changes would greatly enhance the school experience and benefit students’ physical and mental well-being.
