Yes, I like to learn about history as it gives me knowledge about the origin and development of my nation and other parts of the world. Also, it helps to understand how the human race evolved over the period of time.

What historical event do you find most interesting?

I find the period when India fought for its independence from the British rule the most interesting. Many movements were initiated during that time by the revolutionists and I like to learn and listen about those stories from my grandfather.

Do you think history is important?

Yes, history is very important as it helps us to understand and learn about the historical events and trends. Also, history makes us aware about the mistakes done in the past such as initiation of World Wars which results in nothing more than destruction of the human race. It cautions us to avoid committing such mistakes in future.

Do you like to watch programmes on TV about history?

Yes, I love to watch daily soaps based on major historical events and also, like to watch documentaries on the History channel on television.

Do you think you can really learn history from films and TV programmes?

Yes, I think learning history from films and TV programmes is much more interesting and fast rather than learning it from the books as history can be a boring subject for some people. Films make it easy to learn about the history through visual aids.

Yes, the Internet is equipped with all sorts of knowledge and information about history. One can learn about every event by researching and using various articles available on the internet.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Well, one small but truly special celebration I organized was for my best friend, Riya. It was to celebrate her birthday, but what made it unique was that she had no idea we were planning anything for her. She had been going through a rough patch emotionally and had mentioned that she wasn’t in the mood to celebrate that year, so I wanted to do something small and heartfelt to lift her spirits.

Since I knew she wouldn’t want anything too flashy, I decided to organize a quiet surprise dinner at my place. I invited just a few of our closest friends — people she’s really comfortable with — and we kept everything low-key. I spent the day decorating my apartment with fairy lights and some handmade birthday cards that we all wrote messages on. I also cooked some of her favourite food — especially her go-to comfort dish, butter paneer with garlic naan.

The most challenging part was convincing her to come over without raising suspicion. I simply told her I needed help with something and asked her to stop by in the evening. When she walked in and saw everyone shouting “Happy Birthday,” she was completely stunned. At first, she stood there in disbelief, but then she broke into a huge smile and hugged everyone.

Her reaction made all the effort worth it. She told me later that it meant a lot to her, especially because she had been feeling so low. It reminded her that no matter what, she’s surrounded by people who care about her.

All in all, it was a small celebration, but very meaningful — and sometimes, those are the ones we remember the most.

Yes, absolutely. Celebrating small achievements helps people stay motivated and boosts their self-esteem. Whether it’s completing a tough assignment or sticking to a fitness goal, these little wins deserve recognition. It doesn’t have to be extravagant — even a kind word or a small treat can make someone feel valued and encouraged to keep going.

Celebrations today tend to be more influenced by technology and social media. In the past, events were usually more intimate, with fewer people and simpler settings. Now, people often post everything online, hire professional decorators, or even livestream events. That being said, the essence of celebration — gathering together and sharing joy — still remains the same, just with a more modern twist.

Do you think people spend too much money on celebrations these days?

In many cases, yes. There’s often pressure to impress others or follow trends, which can lead to overspending. Some weddings or birthday parties, for instance, can cost thousands of dollars unnecessarily. While it’s nice to make memories, I believe the focus should be on meaningful experiences rather than material displays. A modest but thoughtful celebration can be just as memorable.

Culture plays a huge role. Different cultures have unique traditions, rituals, and values that shape how people celebrate. For example, in Indian culture, festivals like Diwali or Holi are vibrant and family-oriented, often lasting several days. Culture influences not just what is celebrated, but how — from the food and clothing to the music and customs involved.
