IELTS SPEAKING TEST
PART – 1 INTRO
What is your full name?
My full name is ABC.
How may I address you?
You may address me as …….. .
May I see your ID?
Sure, here it is.
Do you like jogging?
Nah, if you’re talking about going for a jog or getting on a treadmill. I can’t stand it and I don’t think it’s worth the alleged health benefits. Whenever I feel like exercising, I just lie down and wait for the feeling to pass. I was so happy to hear that it’s bad for your joints because that gave me an excuse not to ever try going for another run and wiped away any health-related guilt I might’ve felt.

When was the last time you went for a long run?
I remember pretty well the last time I went for a run, long as I haven’t forgotten any times since then… I was about 22 so must’ve been more than a decade ago. I was dating a girl who was an avid runner – cross country and everything – and I was a good athlete but not a runner. I wanted to show off and thought I could handle it without any training beforehand – I thought I’d be way faster no matter how far we ran. But it was a rude awakening – I gave up halfway through and the experience scarred me enough to put me off running forever.
Do you enjoy watching running competitions on TV?
I guess you mean the marathon and Olympic track and field… I’ve never watched the full telecast of the marathon – I doubt anyone has – I’ve only seen highlights on the news of the runners crossing the finish line. I have watched some track and field at the Olympics – the first time Usain Bolt won gold but I haven’t caught any of the last 2 Olympics.

Is your neighborhood a good place for running around?
Yes, it’s ideal in a lot of ways. I come from a small suburb – the roads are pretty empty most of the time so you can run in the street or on the sidewalk. There are a lot of little forests nearby with running trails and a big lake. I never availed myself of the opportunity to go for a run because for me a run is a run – even in a paradise, it’s still exercise.
What kind of flowers do you know?
I wouldn’t say I’m a big flower person but naturally I recognize roses, lilies, sunflowers – the famous ones, haha. In my hometown in the spring tourists flock there to see the flowers blooming – the plum blossom, cherry blossoms and so on. Taking selfies with flowers is one of the biggest national pastimes in China.

One memorable experience I had while travelling was during a trip to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, in India. I went there with a few close friends last winter during our university holidays. We had planned to explore the city’s historical sites and enjoy some local cuisine.

While visiting the Amber Fort, a stunning palace built in the 16th century, I saw a fascinating traditional puppet show being performed just outside the entrance. A local puppeteer was narrating folk tales using beautifully handcrafted wooden puppets, all dressed in colorful traditional attire. The performance was not only entertaining but also deeply cultural, with background music played on traditional instruments like the dholak and harmonium.
What made it truly interesting was how expressive the puppets were, despite being simple wooden figures. The puppeteer skillfully gave life to them through gestures and voice modulation. It felt like stepping back in time and witnessing a piece of Rajasthani heritage.
This experience stood out because it was spontaneous—we hadn’t planned it—and it offered a unique insight into the region’s artistic traditions. It was a refreshing break from the usual sightseeing and reminded me of how rich and diverse Indian culture really is.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS
Do people prefer to travel alone or with others? Why?
It depends on personal preferences. Some people enjoy travelling alone because it gives them complete freedom to plan their day, be spontaneous, and reflect. On the other hand, many prefer travelling with friends or family, as it’s more social, safer, and often more fun to share experiences. Personally, I feel group travel enhances the joy and creates lasting memories.
What are the benefits of travelling?
Travelling offers numerous benefits. Firstly, it broadens our perspective by exposing us to new cultures, traditions, and lifestyles. It also helps people relax, recharge, and escape from daily routines. Additionally, travel enhances communication skills, builds confidence, and in some cases, even improves knowledge through hands-on learning.

Is it better to visit famous landmarks or explore less-known places?
Both have their merits. Famous landmarks are often iconic and rich in historical or cultural value, so they’re a must-see. However, lesser-known places tend to be quieter, more authentic, and often give a deeper insight into local life. A balanced itinerary that includes both can offer the most fulfilling experience.
How has travel changed in the past few decades?
Travel has become much more accessible and affordable due to budget airlines, online booking platforms, and improved infrastructure. Technology like GPS and translation apps has also made it easier for tourists to navigate unfamiliar places. Additionally, people are now more aware of eco-tourism and sustainable travel practices, which was not a major concern a few decades ago.
