Sample answer:

Things for which we don’t have to pay have their own charm. Today, I’m going to talk about one such time when I got something for free.

I live in Dehradun. Last week I planned to go to Chandigarh to visit a close friend. She loves toffees and chocolates. Whenever I visit her, I buy some chocolates or a small present for her. But, this time I forgot to take anything for her.

On the way, the bus stopped for some time. I hurriedly got down and bought a box of chocolates. The journey was quite long, I was hungry too, so I took one bar from the box. When I unwrapped it, I saw a Domino’s Pizza coupon of 1000 INR. It was quite hard to believe first, but when I checked it thoroughly and called the given number, its validity was confirmed.

One can imagine how I would have felt. Certainly, I was more than happy. When I reached Chandigarh, my friend and I went to Domino’s. We used the coupon which I found in the bar. We ordered one big pizza, cold drinks and dessert – almost everything for free. We had to pay a small amount only. We enjoyed the meal and returned home. It became a memorable day for both of us.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

1. Is providing free gifts to the customers increasing their profit to the company?

Sometimes it may bring profit and sometimes it may bring loss to the company, the reason is when they provide free gifts, if the gift is really worth the product or if it really attracts the customer, then the customer will buy the product thinking it is advantageous.

2. Even for free gifts, what strategy did companies follow?

Have you seen most of all, the free gifts that are provided by the companies to customers are only things which attract household women, and kids. The gifts they provide are full color toys, kitchen sets or groceries etc. If they provide toys, kids will force their parents to buy the product to get the toy, For example, Kinder Joy is a kind of chocolate, it contains only 2 chocolate balls with white cream, it cost 30 but maximum of kids buy this product only to get the miniature toy which is given in the pack as free.

3. What free gifts do companies usually give to their customers?

Maximum, the companies will  give small gifts like earrings, pencilbox, pens or something creative cups, etc. to the customers. Sometimes, they give offers like buy one and get one or buy two and get one, also they provide discounts to the customers. Mostly, they provide gifts which attract kids and household womens.

4. Why do customers like to receive free gifts from companies?

It’s just human nature, because whenever they get something for free – they feel that they were lucky. If customers get any free gifts they feel it is the best product, we could not get a better deal apart from this.

5. Is getting free gifts are profit to the customers?

No, it is not profitable to them, they thought that getting gifts as free is completely  free without cash. But, if the company provides free gifts then they increase the price of the product like rupees 2 or rupees 3 for a single product, if the company advertises, people are persuaded to buy a product since it comes with free gifts.
