You recently received a letter from a friend asking for advice about whether to go to college or try to get a job. You think he/she should get a job.
Write a letter to this friend. In your letter:
– say why he/she would not enjoy going to college
– explain why getting a job is a good idea for him/her
– suggest types of job that would be suitable for him/her
SAMPLE ANSWER
Dear Fincher,
Hope you are doing great. It’s been a long since I last met you. I was quite busy with my studies and a part-time job that I am doing at Beckison’s. It’s very wise of you to take some time before deciding whether to have a job or get admitted to a college. As this decision has a profound impact on your future, you should consider each option thoroughly.
As you know I have started my University just after finishing my high school and consequently, I couldn’t get any job experience in my field which I often regret. I believe you should work for a while and after that, continue your education in a subject that you feel interested in. Choose the subject carefully as it would define your future career path.
By getting a suitable job you will gain some valuable interpersonal skills such as delegating a task or working in a team. The job experience will further your decision-making capabilities as well as presentation skills. Moreover, it will open doors for better job opportunities in the future.
I feel you should work at a tour service providing company. It makes sense as it would be easier to find a job in your city in this sector and it would let you travel extensively and meet new people.
