You are looking for a job and you need someone to write a testimonial for you. You know someone who could do that for you.
Write a letter to this person. In your letter,
– say why you are writing
– request for a testimonial
– mention what the testimonial should contain
SAMPLE ANSWER
Dear Mr Albert,
I am Stephen Grisham, one of your students in your class who graduated from Tristan Technology College last year. I worked on enhancing the encryption technology that is used in Wi-Fi modular devices as my final year project with you. Now that I am looking for a job, I need a testimonial, and I believe, you would be one of the best persons to provide that to me.
After graduating from college last December, I took a trip to Europe for two months, and afterwards, did a part-time job for about six months. As I am looking for a suitable full-time job now, I need your help in getting a recommendation. I would request you to send me a testimonial at my home address, or perhaps, I can come to the college and collect it from you in person.
The testimonial should give an overview of my performance, how closely you know me and some useful information that my potential employer would be interested to know about me.
I would be much obliged if you let me know when I can expect to have it
