Warranty – a written promise from a company to repair or replace a product that develops a fault within a particular period of time, or to do a piece of work again if it is not satisfactory.
Sentence – We cannot give a specific warranty for the work done on your property.

Meager – (of amounts or numbers) very small or not enough.
Sentence – The library facilities were meager, the science departments and the engineering school had to make do with outdated equipment.

Almost – nearly.
Sentence – The explosion was almost simultaneous with the announcement.

Afraid – feeling fear, or feeling worry about the possible results of a particular situation.
Sentence – We hope to grow old, yet we fear old age; that is, we are willing to live, and afraid to die.

Dull – not interesting or exciting in any way.
Sentence – The first half of the game was pretty dull.

Comic – funny and making you want to laugh.
Sentence – His accident with the microphone brought some welcome comic relief to a very dull party.

Stupid – silly or unwise; showing poor judgment or little intelligence.
Sentence – When a stupid man is doing something he is ashamed of,he always declared that it is his duty.

To renew – to increase the life of or replace something old.
Sentence – They like to renew old acquaintances, make new friends, see an interesting place in good company, recharge their batteries.

Hint – something that you say or do that shows what you think or want, usually in a way that is not direct.
Sentence – The Minister gave a strong hint that the government were thinking of introducing tax concessions for mothers.

Uncared for – not taken care of well enough.
Sentence – If I were you, I wouldn’t have the heart to leave the kids at home uncared for.

Damage – to harm or spoil something.
Sentence – Fossil fuels have caused irreversible damage to the environment.

Easy – needing little effort.
Sentence – It is easy to learn something about everything, but difficult to learn everything about anything.

Transparent – If a substance or object is transparent, you can see through it very clearly.
Sentence – Most of people are looking forward the crystal-like love-pure without any defect. However the truth is most people are having the glass-like love-same transparent but easily broken.

Moment – a very short period of time.
Sentence – Something seems to be preoccupying her at the moment.

To beat – to do something before someone else.
Sentence – The smaller shopkeepers ganged together to beat off competition from the supermarkets.

Unbiased – able to judge fairly because you are not influenced by your own opinions.
Sentence – Discussion Unbiased estimates of dependency levels in the different sectors can be achieved only by high enumeration and response rates.

Rude – not polite; offensive or embarrassing.
Sentence – Nothing can possibly excuse him for such rude behavior.

Deserted – If a place is deserted, there are no people in it.
Sentence – The village had been hurriedly deserted, perhaps because terrorists were in the area.

To denote – to indicate, to represent.
Sentence – I use this term to denote the area within which party, lists are drawn up and candidates elected from them.

Unmarried – single.
Sentence – There is a strong argument for remaining an unmarried mother. There’s no stigma attached any more.

IELTS Vocabulary
