IELTS LISTENING TIPS FOR BAND 9

Improve Listening Skills

If you want to score 9 in IELTS listening first of all you have to improve your listening skills. This cannot be done if you only rely on the listening practice papers. For improvement you have to think out of the box listen to radio reports, TV-shows, documentary programs, and other modes by which you can improve your hearing and understanding skills.

Learn Vocabulary for IELTS Listening

Vocabulary is an important factor that helps to improve your scores. There are some common words that are used by the speaker nearly in every listening related to the same topic. For instance, the conversation regarding education generally includes words like a tutorial, workshop, modules. If there is any unfamiliar topic related to which you hear the conversation for that also you should know the meaning of the words to score 9 in IELTS Listening.

Be focused during IELTS Listening test

As said earlier that you will hear the listening only once and it will neither be repeated nor paused which means that you have only one chance to listen and note the answer. Moreover, you have to read the questions and write the answers also doing all these activities simultaneously can be bit difficult but you can do it with little practice. There is no doubt that while performing all activities all together your mind can get diverted but train your mind that you remain focused on everything. Here I will like to tell you one more thing that if you miss any answer don’t get panic simply leave it and move on to the other question with the audio. In the end of the test if you get some time than think about the left question and if you can give its answer by an educated guess.

Word Indicators are important

Words like, such as however, therefore, but are the indicators which help to know what the narrator is going to speak next. Indicators help to forecast the upcoming subject of the conversation and guessing the upcoming narration is must to get good scores in IELTS listening.
