IELTS speaking test is a face to face interview and most of the aspirant get nervous during the exam. This nervousness convert into panic when examiner interrupt in between the answer and the question come in mind why the examiner has interrupted me? A. Speaking Part 1

1. Lengthy Answers-In speaking part 1 the aspirant is suppose to answer in 2-3 sentences but if it goes long than the examiner will raise his hand to stop you. It does not mean that you have done a good job but it means that time is running out. Another thing is that this interruption will not have any negative impact on your score but often interruptions can distract you and can make you feel uncomfortable resulting in lack of focus on interview.

2. Memorized Answers- Another reason for interrupting you in speaking test is the memorized answers. IELTS speaking test is to judge the communication skill of a candidate and in part 1 the topics are repeated so many of the test takers learn the answers. It is obvious when a student will switch to a memorized answer his pitch will change and the examiners are well trained to identify these switches it is a fact also know other facts about speaking test. The examiner has the authority to ignore these types of answers.  

3.Correction- It is common to misunderstand the question especially in the beginning of the test when the nervousness is on peak so if the examiner think that you are going on the wrong track he can stop you for correction.

Just to remind you again none of these interruptions will reduce your scores.

B. IELTS Speaking Part 2

4. 2 Minutes end- In part 2 that is cue card the examiner will not interrupt you until the given time of 2 minutes ends. In these two minutes he will sit calmly and just judge your language skills. If you finish early, they may prompt you to continue, but nothing else. There is another aspect if the examiner stops you before two minute you can complaint to the administrator of your test center.

C. IELTS Speaking Part 3

5. Too long- In part-3 examiner can ask you questions relating to the cue card for example- they can ask you for the clarification of the points that you have raised or to give further examples about the topic. You are expected to give answer in 4-5 sentences and if you go too long with repetitions than examiner can say you to stop.

6. Irrelevant answer- If the examiner thinks that your answer is up to the mark or not relevant with the question or your answer is simplistic and obvious for your perceived level than also he can stop you.

– If you are elaborating a single point too much and the examiner thinks that he will not be able to finish interview in the time allowed.
